During this christmas season i was in the market for a new phone. My contract was ending soon and my old phone’s battery was shot. I had a chance to use three major phone os: the iphone 3gs’ ios, samsung focus’ windows phone os, and the samsung captivate’s android os. All of them had a distinct feel to them. I found out pretty quickly that the android and the ios were very similar in terms of interface. I really like the widgets on the android but i missed the email client on the iphone. Microsoft took great pains to depart from the interface design of the iphone and it ended up being really cool! I really like how it did backgrounds and the email client was similar to the iphone.
Thing was, the app store was horrendous but it just launched so im expecting with time they will catch up. The iphone and the android had similar content in their app stores but it was much more easier to find good apps on the iphone. I ended up switching from windows to android cause the phone was cheaper for basically the same specs, a much better app store, and the promise of flash with the 2.2 update! After playing around with all three of these, my perfect phone os would have the window’s interface, iphone’s app store, and android’s widgets and it’s full on support everything google.
